Hey everyone. I have here compiled a complete and detailed guide to what is happening over the first three weeks of semester two, from market day to running the game. I’ve also mentioned what things you need to do to sign up and get ready for playing the game. Enjoy.

Schedule of Events:

  • Market Day – Wednesday 22/07/09 (Week 1)

Market day is the best time to sign up to play the game. For our market day stall we are trying to go as over the top as possible. Details are still pending but expect to see zombies wandering around campus, confectionary, banners and more. We will have a team of people on hand to tell you all about the game and sign you up. Remember to bring $5 to cover club membership. The first 200 members to join the club get a printed out copy of our Member Pack booklet (available in pdf format from here otherwise). Don’t miss it!

  • Q&A and Late Sign-up Nights – Tuesday 28/07/09 and Thursday 31/07/09 (Week 2)

In case you (or your friends) missed out on signing up the first time around we have two late sign-up nights. This is also a great chance to ask us any questions about the game. I (Myles) will also likely have some wipeout guns and nerf pocket howlers to sell to anyone interested and in need of a gun. If you cannot make either of these nights or bush week, email us to sign up ( hvz.anu@gmail.com). However it would make our life much easier if you made it. The locations and times are:

Tuesday 28th of July
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
MCC T6
Thursday 30th of July
6:00pm – 7:00pm
MCC T5
  • Compulsory Safety Meetings – Monday 03/08/09 or Tuesday 04/08/09 (Week 3)
These safety meetings are the last time we will see you formally before the game begins. It is compulsory that you attend one of these meetings (preferably monday). At these meetings we will run over the rules for the entire game and make sure everyone is clear on how it will go. Any questions will be answered. This is also a great chance to talk to your fellow players before the game begins – perhaps you’d like to join a squad, or recruit others to yours? Finally we will end these meetings by checking your name off as having attended and by giving you your game-card and bandanna (essential for playing!) The locations and times are:
Monday 3rd of August
6:00pm – 7:30pm
MCC T5
or
Tuesday 4th of August
6:00pm – 7:30pm
MCC T6
  • The Game Itself! – Wednesday 05/08/09 till Saturday 08/08/09 (Week 3)

The game itself will be awesome. In order to play in the game you must have completed all 5 sign-up parts (detailed in more detail below). There will be lots of missions during the week – but for now these remain a mystery. Also, check the website regularly for up to date kills and leaderboards – we will hopefully be blogging a daily review for each day of the game here on this news blog. Remember to play responsibly and have lots of fun!

  • Concluding Awesome Zombie Party – Sunday 09/08/09

To end the game with a bang we are holding a super awesome finale by holding a massive zombie party. Everyone who played is invited to come along! We will begin the night by sharing tales about the game and watching some of footage and pictures taken. The HvZ moderators will talk for a little bit about what is next for HvZ as a club and will award prizes to those who may have won them (including squads). And with that we will formally end the very first HvZ game run at an Australian University! With the prizes out of the way we’ll bring in the party food and stay up late watching zombie movies! You don’t want to miss this. The location and time is:

Sunday 9th of August
5:00pm – 11:30pm
MCC T3

Signing Up to Play HvZ:

Signing up to play HvZ requires you to take 5 steps. It is vital you do all of these or you will not be able to play the game. The steps are as follows:

  1. Become a member of the club by paying the $5 membership fee and signing the membership list. (Best done at Market Day of Q&A nights).
  2. Sign the disclaimer of liability to say the club is not responsible for any injuries or damages you may incur while playing. (Do this when you sign up).
  3. Sign the photo release form to allow us to use pictures of you taken during the game for our advertising.
  4. Sign up online here: http://anu.hvzsource.com/register.php . This is VITAL to playing the game. Use your real name when signing up (including last name) so we can be sure of who you are. Registration will be open during all of week 1 and 2 of the semester. After that we are printing game-cards, so do it before then!
  5. Finally attend a single one of the compulsory safety meetings and receive your bandanna.

If you complete these five steps you will be ready to play HvZ!

Other things you can do to prepare for HvZ:

  1. Invite friends to play, we want as many people as possible, so get all your friends involved!
  2. Think about starting up a squad, these make the game a lot of fun and can make the whole HvZ game one big party – more info about squads here: http://z3.invisionfree.com/hvzanu/index.php?showtopic=9 another great idea is to organize an official squad for your college/hall.
  3. Sign up on the forums and get into the discussion of the game.
  4. Read the rules on the website.
  5. Give us some feedback about the game, the website or anything else using the links on the main page (the about page).

Thats all I can think to talk about which is essential. If you have any questions or concerns please email us at hvz.anu@gmail.com – we want everyone to know exactly what is going on.
